 It's been a good day :D

Gym, studying, networking, and I'm meeting with a Y trainer in the morning to get set up on all the machines, yaya! (seriously the extend to which I missed gyms is actually disturbing)

I think I might actually be on the right track.

How you know you have crossed into Maine:

-There is a water tower with a lobster on it
-Suddenly tons of unnecessary PSA signage appears informing you of:
-drunk driving laws
-exits for different mountains/state parks (hours before you would get there)
-the exit for Boothbay (not a good one to take anyway) an hour before arrival
-fireworks laws
-you cannot drive in the left lane except to pass
-signs for hunting and fishing regions and the radio station for related news
-distances are in KM and MI
-the toll both tells you the discount on canadian currency
-you drive through cities named from native american languages
-you enter and leave game preserves
-all you can see are pine trees and rocks (not to be confused with cities and houses)
-there are a lot of hideous Subaru station wagons with kayaks and bikes on top
-trucks are all rusted
-traffic drops off 100 fold (this can sometimes be the opposite)
-It is june so it is cold, rainy and miserable outside and everything is under construction (it is the only time of year the ground is not frozen)

yup, I'm home (took bloody long enough)

So I get back from class today (which i should note must have been cancelled since no one showed up) and when I get back to my apartment I got the feeling that someone had been there. Some doors that had been shut were now open and vice versa, however my roomate had not come back from her stage, and nothing was moved.

Then, just a minute ago someone comes to my door and says that she is in charge of all the lycée property and that two of the armoirs in the apartment did not belong to the lycée and she needed to give them back. She said that one of them was full. I ask her which one, she just says one of the full ones in one of the bedrooms. So take her to my room to see if it was mine, or that of my roommate.  Luckily it was mine since them trying to take my absent roommate's armoire without her knowning would just be well, quite awkward. So apparently a person is going to come today to take my armoire, and will then give me another one.  

This changing armoires is not what bothers me. However what does is people coming into my apartment and looking into the bedrooms, which clearly do not have locks on them or anything, without notifying me beforehand. This is of course not the first time members of the lycée have come to peruse the apartment without telling me. I think this lack of privacy is a reason i lead such a quiet uneventful life here. Seriously, its a good thing i dont have any contraband. 

sigh, only less than 10 days. 

I'll be back in the states in time to see the Wolverine movie in theaters. Like, not dubbed into French!

I'm overly excited about this. 

also, now that I have finished my OCD buffy/angel fest (time VERY well spent) I'm move onto real movies, any suggestions?

So I was walking in the fields up by the train tracks yesterday, and I came across a field with some cows in it. Now i have seen these cows before, in the distance. However, yesterday I must have remembered to put on my l'eau d'Hay perfume before leaving the apartment, because they all wanted to be my best friend!  Unfortuantly for them, the melange of cowbreath and bug infested mud is not what turns me on. As cute and friendly as they were there is something unnerving about sitting on the ground and having a herd of cows gather round and try to kiss you.

how epic is it going to be to be able to be able to spend the day logged into facebook, and then pick up the phone and call someone (in your time zone) while being on the internet after 7pm on a weekday 2pm on a saturday, or at all on a sunday?

seriously communication will be incredible!

6.5 more weeks of work and two of them are vacation. I might change my tickets to come back sooner after my contract is up, ie not spend a whole month wandering on my own, but we'll see.

and I realize: oh wait, right, sorry I forget that everything is dubbed into french here. never mind, dubbed movies give me a head ache, and the creeps. Like hell Im going to watch watchmen dubbed over.

I am rather amused to note that people really do kiss Oscar Wilde's grave. I am less amused to think of all the microbes that must be festering in the lipstick caked cement.

i'm pretty certain that if i had a sports team, this would be the jersey!

 

Ok, so due to a huge storm knocking some trees on the train track in the bordeaux region my return from Nice proved interesting. Sunday we got to the train station to get on our night train back to la Roche and find out our train has been ‘supprimé’ or cancelled. Cute.

Friday evening: La Roche Sur Yon to Nice

Sunday evening - Monday morning/day: Nice to La Roche Sur Yon Nice to Paris Gare Austerlitz, Metro to Paris Gare Montparnasse, TGV from Montparnasse to La Roche Sur Yon

I joke about how you cant get anywhere in France without going to Paris, but it is kinda true. We basically did a big circle all around France. I have slept in these pants for 3 nights in row, two of them in a train, one of them on a floor. Cute way to spend the weekend. Thanks storm!

sadly....I feel rather sure i would do this.

It is sad just how excited I am to be able to, very slowly, vacuum the dust collecting carpet that is my bedroom floor. This is an Obsessive Compulsive's dream way of spending her time. 

Now i really do need to move on to doing the Neurofeedback. That might have to be after I read at least one of the BDs that I walked an hour to the mediatheque on the other side of town to find. 

I just ordered some of the sweet necter of life.

Anywho, soon I am off to watch some video about all the *exciting* things that have supposedly happened in La Roche Sur Yon last year. I think the video is going to be a montage of people playing bridge and looking at the statue of Napoleon from different angles. It is followed by some im-scare-to-find-out-what dance recital and aperitifs.

and just think, i count this as a social event :p
